Nordan Builders Merchants Ltd is a family firm based in Castleford, West Yorkshire
In the 40 years we have been trading we have built up an enviable reputation for the high quality of the products we sell, and the services we deliver.

History of the Firm

In the late 1950s, trading as a Builders' Merchant from premises in Eastfield Lane, Castleford, which was part of an old brickyard and quarry, the founder - Brian Nordan - bought the shares of Breeze & Concrete Products Ltd, who were manufacturing concrete products on the adjoining site and changed the name to Nordan (Builders' Merchants) Ltd. The Company traded very successfully, and by 1965 it was necessary to look for new premises. Ledston Station and surrounding land and buildings were bought. The buildings were converted into offices and trade counter stores, and a 21,000 square foot warehouse was built. The company moved into these new premises in 1967. New vehicles, fork lift trucks, and loading shovel were bought, and expansion and sales were tremendous and all through the 1970s turnover increased.
To further this expansion, and to cater for the changes in the DIY market, together with Trade customers, an 8,000sq.ft showroom and offices was built. Computerisation followed in 1990. To complete the modernisation, the new millenium brought into effect our further moves into the world of IT, and with it, our website. The business is still family-run, and trading from the same premises, but it is now managed and directed by the founder's son - Christopher Nordan.
